I am here to remind you that you are also a person; a person who has needs and wants; a person who deserves to choose herself, too.

Hi, i’m geena…

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Specializing in anxiety disorders & building my expertise in perinatal mental health.

Me as a therapist…

Humor is a part of who I am as a therapist, I promise to be respectful, encouraging, and support you in this therapeutic relationship. My ask for you as a client is that you show up as your authentic self and be transparent about how things are going (no judgment here!). I am a self-care advocate so don’t be surprised when I ask you what you have been doing for yourself. Our minds and bodies are connected and for our mind to get what it needs; we need to go the extra mile to nourish our bodies. I know that can be easier said than done in postpartum and I’m here to support you.

I want to help folks embrace their journeys into parenthood and as a Gottman-trained couples therapist, I enjoy helping families improve communication so everyone is seen and heard.

First sessions in therapy can feel daunting, this is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. The right therapeutic fit can make a big difference in helping you reach your goals. My hope is that after our first meeting you’ll leave with hope that things will get better, and we’ll work together to develop a plan to get you there.

My Journey into Family Therapy…

From a young age, I have always known I wanted to help people. Early on, I knew that Marriage and Family Therapy was the degree for me. I have a BS in Psychology from the University of Bridgeport and a Masters in Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State University. I also have clinical experience working in an OCD-focused clinic and in more intensive therapeutic settings.

A bit more about me…

I am deeply committed to continuing to further my education and build expertise in my specialties. I started with anxiety disorders and was trained in providing Exposure Response Prevention Therapy to clients challenge obsessive-compulsive patterns. Becoming skilled in this type of treatment and having a passion for helping women led me to perinatal mental health. Being a mother can feel isolating at times, it is important to have a community. It’s an honor to be part of the village you are building around your growing family. I want to help you THRIVE in your pregnancy and get all the support you need.

On a personal note…

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going on walks, reading, and hanging out with my six cats: Luna, Lola, Lucy, Louie, Lily, and Lexi-Definitely a cat lady and I love it!
