Course Objectives

  • Name, describe, and compare a variety of types of Complementary and Alternative (CAM) interventions for perinatal populations.

  • Define scope of practice for mental health practitioners in relation to complementary therapies and describe when to refer out and how to make strong, ethical referrals.

  • Conceptualize the peripartum woman from a holistic perspective, conducting a holistic intake assessment and adapt psychotherapy interventions to consider whole person in the perinatal context.

  • Distinguish relevant CAM therapies for fertility, prenatal, and postpartum mental health concerns.

  • Analyze appropriate client scenarios for psychotherapist CAM intervention, formulating holistic treatment plan frameworks for perinatal clients.

  • Be able to implement holistic interventions that consider the whole-birthing woman, her mental health and physical wellness in the context of sociocultural identity and within systemic limitations or barriers.

Local restaurant options are just a few miles away and dinner and breakfast may also be included.

The Guest House is conveniently located on Route 148 off CT Rt-9 with easy access from Interstate 91, Interstate 95 and the Metro North Railroad. Fine Print & Details:

Per NASW/CT Requirements, attendees must complete the entire course and submit a course evaluation in order to be awarded CEC’s. Many state NASW Chapters accept CEC’s from other states however you are ultimately responsible for verifying eligibility to apply this course toward your individual licensure renewal. Please keep in mind, even if the CEC’s are not transferable, this is still among the most affordable PSI-Approved courses available!

Babies & Breastfeeding: This training is intended to be mompreneur-friendly. There will be a private space for lactation and a fridge available for any pumping moms. If you have a small baby (6 mos or younger) and wish to bring them, you are welcome to do so. I ask that you make yourself comfortable near an exit so you can easily tend to your baby as you need to.

REFUNDS: The accommodations at the Guest House are customized based on the size of the group. Refunds will be offered through 8:00pm EST on March 18, 2019.
